Althea believes in data privacy and security and knows that these ideals are even more sensitive in the legal psychedelic marketplace. We believe individuals are the owners of their data and should know where their data is stored and who has access. At the moment, that explanation is simple - we keep the data between you, your clients, and us (and we share it with no one else).
Althea understands that to use this system, there needs to be trust that the data is secure and private. We consider the information stored here to be personal, health information and have built our system to treat it with care.
Our founding team has considerable healthcare experience, including working at the largest electronic health records system, where we are very familiar with the standards of Hi-Trust and HIPAA compliance.
While HIPAA doesn't apply yet in this situation, we have built our software to meet the spirit of HIPAA rules. That means it is encrypted, private, and meets high security standards. If and when HIPAA were to apply to this industry, we would be able to meet those standards immediately. In fact, some of our technical standards already exceed HIPAA expectations.
